# Important Information About Our Links
Last updated: May 2026

Affiliate Links & Commissions Notice
The short version: Keeping this platform free for our community takes work. To help cover our costs without charging you to list your vehicle or gear, we sometimes include links to external websites that pay us a small commission if you make a purchase. This costs you absolutely nothing extra.

To keep standard listings completely free for the overlanding community, OpenRoadStore participates in various affiliate marketing programs. This means that when you click on certain links to products, gear, or services on external websites (such as Amazon or specialized overlanding service providers) and make a purchase, we may receive a small financial commission or referral fee from that company.

What this means for you:

Zero Extra Cost: Using these links does not change the price of the item or service for you. You pay the exact same amount you normally would.

Curated for Quality: We only link to external products, gear, and services that we genuinely believe add value, safety, or convenience to your journey.

Unbiased Content: Our community focus and editorial choices are entirely independent. We do not accept payment to write positive reviews for poor products.

We thank you for supporting OpenRoadStore by using these links so we can keep the marketplace free, open, and running for fellow travelers!

Terms of Service
OpenRoadStore | Last updated: May 2026

The short version
OpenRoadStore is a free marketplace for the overlanding community. We connect buyers and sellers — we are not a party to any transaction. Be honest in your listings, don't post anything illegal, and treat each other like fellow travellers. We can remove listings or accounts that violate these terms. The full details are below.

1. Who we are and what OpenRoadStore is
OpenRoadStore ("we", "us", "our", "the platform") is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of overlanding vehicles, gear, and parts across international borders.

We are a marketplace, not a dealer. OpenRoadStore does not buy, sell, or take ownership of any vehicle or item listed on the platform. We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. Any deal you make is directly between you and the other person.

By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.

2. Accounts
Plain English: You need an account to post listings or contact sellers. Be honest about who you are. You're responsible for keeping your account secure.

Creating an account
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.

You must provide accurate information — real name (or display name), working email address.

One account per person. Do not create accounts on behalf of others without their knowledge.

Guest accounts
When you send a message as a guest (without registering), we create a temporary account for you. You can claim it by setting a password via the magic link we send to your email.

Your responsibilities
Keep your password secure. We are not responsible for unauthorised access caused by your failure to protect your credentials.

You are responsible for everything that happens through your account.

Notify us immediately at openroadstore2@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

Account termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings.

3. Posting listings
Plain English: Be honest. Only list things you actually have and can actually sell. No fake listings, no duplicates, no illegal items.

What you can list
Vehicles used for overlanding or expedition travel.

Gear and equipment for overlanding, camping, and off-grid living.

Spare parts and components for the above.

Listing rules
You agree that every listing you post:

Is accurate and honest. Price, condition, location, and description must be truthful. Do not exaggerate condition or hide known defects.

Is something you own or are authorised to sell. Do not list items you don't have or have no right to sell.

Is not duplicated. Do not post the same item multiple times.

Uses real photos. Photos must show the actual item being sold. Stock photos or photos of different items are not permitted.

Is legally permitted. See prohibited items below.

Complies with local laws. It is your responsibility to ensure the sale complies with the laws of your jurisdiction and the buyer's jurisdiction, including vehicle transfer laws, export regulations, and customs requirements.

Prohibited listings
You may not list:

Stolen goods.

Vehicles with fraudulent or altered identification numbers (VIN/chassis).

Items that are illegal in the seller's or buyer's country.

Weapons, drugs, or controlled substances.

Counterfeit or fake goods.

Anything unrelated to overlanding, expedition travel, or outdoor adventure.

Vehicle transfer complexity
Plain English: Cross-border vehicle sales are legally complicated. We provide information and tools to help, but we are not lawyers. Get proper legal advice for your specific situation.

Selling a vehicle across international borders involves complex legal considerations including Temporary Import Permits (TIPs), customs regulations, title transfer requirements, and local registration laws. OpenRoadStore provides information and tools to help you navigate these complexities — including listing fields for ownership transfer type, TIP status, and contextual links to relevant services — but this information is provided as general guidance only and does not constitute legal advice. You are responsible for ensuring your transaction complies with all applicable laws.

4. Fees and payments
Plain English: Listing is free. We charge for Featured listings and optional inspection services. We don't take a cut of your sale.

Creating a listing: Free.

Featured listings: A one-time fee (currently $12 USD for 30 days) to appear at the top of search results. Price is subject to change with notice.

Verified Inspection service: A fee (currently $75 USD) for OpenRoadStore to coordinate a third-party mechanical inspection. This covers our coordination cost and the inspecting garage's fee. The full breakdown will be provided before payment.

Tips: When you mark a listing as sold, we invite you to leave a voluntary tip to support the platform. This is entirely optional and has no effect on your listing or account.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details. By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.

Refunds: Featured listing fees are non-refundable once the listing has been activated and appeared in Featured results. Inspection fees are non-refundable once an inspection has been arranged with a garage. If we are unable to arrange an inspection, we will refund the fee in full.

5. Transactions between buyers and sellers
Plain English: When you buy or sell something, that's your deal. We are not involved. Do your own due diligence. We are not responsible if something goes wrong.

OpenRoadStore is a platform that facilitates connections. We are not a party to any transaction. When a buyer and seller agree to a deal, that agreement is solely between them.

We strongly recommend:

Buyers: Inspect the vehicle or item in person before completing any payment. Use the Verified Inspection service for high-value purchases. Never pay in full before inspection.

Sellers: Confirm the buyer's identity and payment method before transferring any title or ownership documents.

Both parties: Be aware of common scams. Do not send money via wire transfer, Western Union, or cryptocurrency to someone you have not met in person. OpenRoadStore will never ask you to pay via these methods.

We are not responsible for:

The accuracy of any listing (though we do moderate and remove fraudulent listings when identified).

The outcome of any transaction.

Losses arising from fraud, misrepresentation, or disputes between buyers and sellers.

Vehicle defects, hidden damage, or issues discovered after sale.

Legal complications arising from international vehicle transfers.

6. Affiliate links and sponsored content
Plain English: Some links on this platform are affiliate links. If you buy something through them, we might earn a small commission. We'll always be clear about which links are affiliate links.

OpenRoadStore displays affiliate links in certain contexts — for example, when no community listings match your search, we show links to relevant gear on Amazon or similar retailers. We also display contextual links to relevant service providers (such as title transfer services or legal document services) when they are relevant to your listing.

All affiliate links are clearly labelled. We only link to services and products we believe are relevant and legitimate for the overlanding community. Our editorial content is not influenced by affiliate relationships.

7. Content you post
Plain English: You own your content. By posting it, you give us permission to display it on the platform. We don't use it for advertising or sell it.

You retain ownership of all content you post — photos, descriptions, listing text. By posting content on OpenRoadStore, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform for the purpose of operating the marketplace.

This licence ends when you delete the listing or your account, subject to the data retention periods in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to post any content you submit. Do not post content that:

Infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.

Is defamatory, harassing, or abusive.

Contains personal information about others without their consent.

Is spam or deliberately misleading.

8. Our content moderation rights
Plain English: We can remove listings or accounts that break the rules. We'll try to be fair about it.

We reserve the right to:

Remove any listing that violates these Terms, without prior notice.

Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms.

Edit listing titles or descriptions for clarity (we will notify you if we do this).

Display a "Reported" flag on listings under review.

When possible, we will notify you of the reason for any removal. You can appeal a removal by emailing openroadstore2@gmail.com.

9. The platform and our service
Plain English: We try to keep the platform running well, but we can't guarantee it's always available or error-free. Use it at your own risk.

We aim to keep OpenRoadStore available and functional at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may need to take the platform offline for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control.

The platform is provided "as is." We do not warrant that it will be error-free, secure, or meet your specific requirements.

10. Limitation of liability
Plain English: If something goes wrong with a transaction or on the platform, our liability to you is limited. We are a small marketplace — we cannot insure every deal.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, OpenRoadStore's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the platform shall not exceed the greater of:

The total fees you have paid to OpenRoadStore in the 12 months preceding the claim, or

$100 USD.

We are not liable for:

Indirect, incidental, or consequential losses.

Loss of profits or revenue.

Losses arising from transactions between buyers and sellers.

Losses arising from your reliance on any listing information.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Indemnity
By using the platform, you agree to indemnify and hold OpenRoadStore harmless from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your use of the platform, your listings, or your transactions, to the extent caused by your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

12. Governing law and disputes
Plain English: If we have a dispute, we'd prefer to resolve it directly. If we can't, Irish law applies and Irish courts have jurisdiction — though if you're an EU consumer, you always keep your local consumer rights.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes that cannot be resolved directly will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings locally.

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first at openroadstore2@gmail.com — we want to resolve things fairly and directly.

If we cannot resolve a dispute directly, you may have the right to refer it to an alternative dispute resolution body or court in your jurisdiction. EU consumers retain the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform. As an Ireland-based platform, OpenRoadStore is subject to Irish consumer protection law and EU consumer rights directives.

13. Changes to these Terms
Plain English: If we change the Terms significantly, we'll tell you before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the platform means you accept the new Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. For significant changes, we will give you at least 14 days' notice by email before the changes take effect. For minor changes (corrections, clarifications), we may update without specific notice.

The date at the top of this page always shows the last updated version. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
